About Dr. Zerafa
I became a doctor because of food. As a child, I watched my Italian grandmother love people by serving them healthy meals. As a teenager I worked at restaurants and wanted to be a chef - to celebrate food and share the joy of taking care of people. Now as a doctor, I am be able to take care of people with the same hospitality as my grandma or a nice restaurant, and make a lasting impact over a long period of time. Plus healthy food is still a big part of the job!
As an M.D., I practice typical family medicine for patients of all ages (newborn through end-of-life care). In addition to this, it’s important to highlight a couple things that I really value as a primary care doctor.
1) Early detection and prevention of disease - patients of all ages and health status should expect that we invest extra time and resources now to make sure we have the best outcomes in the future.
2) Whole person approach to medicine - we are always going to think about 6 different angles to work on your health: Nutrition, Activity, Sleep, Stress Management, Supplements and Prescriptions. We’ll make sure that we choose the appropriate angles to optimize your health and work with your lifestyle.
3) Support for the advice I give - If a doctor says “Eat better and exercise more,” that doesn’t really help you be a healthier person. We already know we’re supposed to do those things! Patients should expect that my team and I will support you to actually reach the goals that we set together.
4) Current knowledge of medical treatments - patients are motivated to use the most advanced knowledge to optimize their health. You should have a doctor with a strong medical foundation to understand and scrutinize new advancements in the quickly changing medical field. I very much enjoy and take this part of my job seriously - to help patients sort through, understand and use the most current knowledge available.
P.S. “Grandma Dotty” is still going strong. Mangiamo!
